We are delighted to welcome back NexGen stalwart, the 'Welsh Wizard', Gareth 'Undersound' Evans, dropping a stunning new LP entitled 'No More Shooting Stars.' His last solo artist release on NexGen Music was the downtempo 'Goodbye Fools' EP back in 2015. More renowned as a Drum & Bass artist and multi-instrumentalist, Undersound is back with an LP that displays his eclectic skills and quality musicianship, with each song bringing a variety of flavors to the table.

Heavily inspired by artists such as Herbie Hancock, Portishead, Prince and Jacob Collier, No More Shooting Stars incorporates elements from world music, Hip-Hop, Funk, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, and Jazz as each track sounds completely different than the next in sound and tempo. Slow jams like the title track, ‘No More Shooting Stars’ , ‘A Frozen Loves Tale’ and Shouldn’ve Known Better’ are nestled in between the Jazz and Funk sounds of ‘Another Catastrophe’ and ‘No More Lies.’ Then we have the more Dubstep, Drum & Bass and Hip-Hop influenced ‘Party Arrangements’ and ‘Never Go That Way,’ to the more soulfully constructed ‘Room 2 Room.’

Undersound comments, “With this album I wanted to make a larger body of work than a single or an EP, that also wasn’t Drum & Bass. I wanted to fully utilize the instruments I can play, and as well as working with some fantastic guest vocalists I also wanted to do some vocals myself, including large choral textures as well as lead vocals. I tried to explore and draw influence from as many different genres as I could, including Jazz, Rock, Hip-Hop, world music, choral music, cinematic music, Funk, Blues and more… On two tracks you can hear the vocals of Bella Collins , who is my Jazz / Blues Duo partner here in Cardiff, who I have been dying to showcase!”

Speaking to the title track 'No More Shooting Stars,' Undersound cites “The core theme behind this song is feeling like hope is lost and the questions that arise of how to go about moving on and beginning to recover.”
