Born and bred in Cambridge, UK, Boomdoc (Nick Cook) has been intimately in touch with music since age 9, a conduit provided by his dad who ran an independent record shop (Hedgehog Records) in nearby Ely from 1991 to 2005.

Having a Saturday gig working at the shop (which eventually became full time) exposed him to many genres, styles and musical influences, from jazz, blues, R&B and reggae/dub. This lead to him becoming inspired by artists ranging from Scratch Lee Perry, Tools & The Maytals, Earth Wind & Fire, Guru, De La Soul, NWA, MJ Cole, Prodigy, Marshal Jefferson, Sticky, Lowsteppa, Dan Morgan, Skapes, Cause & Affect, Zinc, Dekline, Serial Killaz, Goldie, Adam F, Roni Size.... and the list goes on.

Grabbing his first set of turntables at the age of 14 – SoundLab DLP3's belt drives to be specific – Boomdoc taught himself the art of mixing, chopping and scratching (which was bloody hard work on those belt drives!). He very quickly fell in love with drop beats and making people dance, which leaf to him playing in bars and clubs before he was old enough to buy a drink.

Age the age of 21, Boomdoc moved over to Spain for few years holding residences in Barcelona and Salou for Kiss, the legendary Busby's Nightclub Playa De Las Americas Tenerife and many others including Rags Nightclub and Kaluna Beach Club.

Heading back to the UK a few years later, he started up his own nights named ‘Audio Funk,” putting on nights that showcased then up-and coming-talent such as Chris Lorenzo, Hannah Wants, Ill Phil and many more.

For the last few years Boomdoc has been cutting his teeth in production, dropping house and garage beats with big basslines and catchy hooks. You can expect to hear a lot more from Boomdoc in the coming months a years. Watch this space!
